Hotel Torcross Devon
The beach at Slapton is a stunning, smooth pebble beach, situated between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge on the South Devon Coast – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The area attracts visitors from around the world for its nature reserve and scenic countryside and coastline.
A thriving local community and excellent local amenities create an atmosphere of friendliness and fun, with a choice of accommodation from top class hotels to the outdoor thrills of camping.
With the local church dating from around the 14th Century, Slapton has always been a small coastal village and is noted for its beach and the nature reserve of Slapton Ley, the result of rising sea levels around 5000 years ago.
Slapton Sands was the scene of an ill-fated military exercise in 1944, Excercise Tiger. A Sherman tank recovered from where it sank during this action now stands in Torcross as a memorial to those who were lost.
