B&B in Salcombe
This family-run seasonal B&B is set down a quiet residential lane on the edge of Malborough village, a five-minute drive from Salcombe and its enticing beaches. A 1960s refurbished dorma bungalow, it has two surprisingly beautiful wooden-floored bedrooms on its top floor. Bolt Head Suite is the largest of the two, with a comfy leather sofa and a seven-foot round bed; the Bolt Tail Suite has a double-headed walk-in shower. Both have uplifting country views out to a distant Dartmoor and down to the Kingsbridge estuary, plus wi-fi and iPod docks with surround sound. On arrival you’ll find home-made brownies or flapjacks to munch on, and breakfast is delivered to your room so you can be private - there’s fruit, croissants, home made granola, Heron Valley juices, local breads and the option of a Full English using organic ingredients where possible. Liz, a relaxed and helpful mother of two, can cater to special dietary requirements if you let her know in advance. The B&B is open during the spring and summer, and the whole house is available for hire from mid-July till the end of September, when you'll also be able to use the garden and outdoor hot tub.
