No 2 Broadgate is a luxury, boutique bed and breakfast in Barnstaple, which is just for grown ups This unusual B&B in North Devon forms part of a stunning Georgian house, in the historic Saxon area of Pilton, and is therefore full of beautiful period features. Furthermore this Grade II listed building was built in 1611 by Lord Parminter, who was, most notably, a wealthy shipping merchant and local landowner.

This delightful home dominates the Barnstaple skyline as it has for over 400 years, consequently, it also commands beautiful views. It perches high above the town centre, and hence, overlooks the delightful countryside. The B&B is hidden away behind a high stone wall and old blue coaching gates, making it a sanctuary for those visitors wishing for a little peace and quiet. The guest house itself faces due south, which as a result, allows the house to be flooded with natural light and warmth all year round.

Pilton

The location of this Bed and Breakfast is situated most conveniently for access to the town, however, it is just far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. It is a short scenic walk to the High Street, via the narrow cobbled pathways, that weave their way past Pilton Church and other notable landmarks close by. The 12th century Pilton Priory, Bull Hill House and its adjoining Alms houses, are all great examples of Pilton’s history, and as a consequence, it’s beauty. In addition, the Bed and Breakfast is less than half a mile from the popular Tarka Trail and South West coast path.

The House

This elegant accommodation is tastefully and luxuriously furnished. The have unusual pieces of furniture and quirky artwork and artifacts. As a result, this makes this beautiful home a gracious and informal bed and breakfast.

Probably the best place we've stayed.

We were blown away as soon as Jane opened the door. Such a friendly and welcoming lady. The room was just as beautiful as the pictures on the website which is often not the case. Lovely tall ceilings with plenty of period features. Large comfy bed with super soft sheets and probably the most comfy pillows and mattress we've ever slept on. The roll top bath made it an excellent experience with great views out over the garden and Barnstable. High quality and toiletries and super soft towels. Breakfast was superb, lovey setting, lovely dining area and excellent food with plenty of choice. Thank you Jane for a lovely start to our break. We would not hesitate to come back. 13 June 2016

Outstanding boutique B&B in a great location.

Superb boutique B&B. A beautifully renovated old house in a great location with stunning views across Barnstaple and the river. The room and bathroom were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean with the unexpected bonus of a lounge area with wide screen TV. Jane was very welcoming and a lovely breakfast was served in a spacious dining room overlooking the gardens. The dining room even featured a number of Damien Hirst original artworks!!! Overall superb. Will definitely stay again. 15 August 2016

Fantastic B&B! Can't wait to go back for more, highly recommended!

Very friendly and welcoming. The property is stunning and our attic suite was just perfect. Very spacious and all of the furniture have such a character. Breakfast was very good, Jane makes the best scrambled eggs! We really enjoyed our stay and definitely will be coming back again! 24 August 2016
